THE Belfry’s inland links course, the PGA National, will host the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship final next year, accommodating 156 UK and overseas golfers for the £90,000 flagship event.
From June 14 to 17, the finalists, who have to qualify from a pool of 650 players across eight regional events, will battle for the £10,000 first prize on the Dave Thomas-designed course that now features harder-running fairways, severe gorse and steeper greenside run-offs.
The event, which is supported by Peugeot and MPI Financial Services, will have extra significance as points to make the 2011 GB & I PGA Cup team that takes on the US in September that year will also be up for grabs.
