WE’RE Back! Wednesday is still a bit of a blur, but the excitement of the night will stay with me for a long time to come.

A full house at Sixways saw the boys lift a well-deserved trophy and, although the game itself may not have been as one-sided as we would have liked, it would have been foolish to underestimate the abilities of the Pirates.

As the last few days have unfolded, the implications of what we have achieved are starting to sink in. Premiership rugby has come to Worcester again and we are ready for it!

The Cornishmen put up a fantastic fight, looking to succeed against the odds. Fly-half Jonny Bentley was sharp and caused us problems all evening with his elusive running.

Unfortunately for the Pirates, skipper Gavin Cattle made a few uncharacteristic errors preventing his side from building any real momentum in the early stages.

With a narrow half-time lead, we knew we had to press on in the second-half and put more points on the board — this we did with two quick scores from Andy Goode and Miles Benjamin.

The rest of the game was extremely tense as the Pirates rallied once more. Our defence proved strong enough in the end and the rest, as they say, is history.

Dale Rasmussen thoroughly deserved his title as man-of-the-match. His work-rate and defence have been unquestionable all season and throughout the game he displayed unwavering commitment.

Greg Rawlinson showed why he has the nickname ‘The Enforcer’ through dominating the physical battle for the entire match. Meanwhile, the control and class touches shown by Jonny Arr simply cemented why he was announced as this campaign’s player-of-the-season.

The next four weeks hold some well-deserved ‘R&R’ for the boys and staff.

A few weeks away from the club will do us no harm, but we are aware the hard work starts now in terms of preparation for the battle ahead in the Premiership.

Pre-season training will be upon us soon and we intend to hit the ground running and winning.

The 2011/12 season will see some new faces in the squad but, before we welcome the new, a word to the leaving — thank you for all your hard work and you will be missed both on and off the field.

I would also like to give a nod to all the backroom staff at Sixways — from those who work tirelessly in the car parks, through to the physios, analysts, coaches and anyone in between.

There is also Cecil Duckworth to thank for his continuous passion, vision and belief in the club’s potential. We will make sure his faith is re-paid over the next few years.

All that’s left to say is a massive thank you to the supporters that have shared this season with us week in, week out. The 16th men of the Warriors are hugely appreciated and you’re support is invaluable.

I hope we can recreate the Sixways atmosphere as it was on Wednesday night, ongoing.

A full house of singing and chanting fans made it an unbelievable place to play. Sixways must become our fortress once again next season.
