A NEW watersports activity is set to launch in the county.

Top Barn Activity Centre, near Hallow, hosts a six-week introductory programme starting on Thursday, June 16.

Running for an hour from 4.15pm, it is open to boys and girls aged 14 to 16 years old and costs £20 instead of the normal £45.

Children will be able to have a go at canoeing, kayaking, raft building and wobbly boarding throughout the programme.

It has been organised by Malvern Hills District Council and forms part of Sport England’s new four-year Sportivate initiative, which aims to get more 14 to 25-year-olds involved in sport and physical activity as part of the 2012 Olympic legacy.

Portfolio Holder for teenagers and older people, councillor Barbara Williams, said: “I am really excited about seeing many more young people take part in a wide range of exciting and diverse activities through the new Sportivate initiative.”
