WORCESTER gained an 11-shot victory over visitors Malvern Victoria.

A close first 10 ends was all-square but the hosts then picked up a six and five to take an advantage and they held off a Victoria fightback.

Winning on three rinks, Worcester were led by Colin Hemming’s four who won by nine, while Clive Hall and Ryan Atkins also triumphed.

Victoria’s only winning rink came from Frank Holt although Steve Aldridge drew.

Worcester just failed by eight shots at home to Cheltenham side Whaddon.

Whaddon were four shots ahead after five ends but the home side reversed the deficit to lead by five shots.

With one end left to play, the scores were level but Worcester could not stop the visitors claiming the winning shots to run out victors.

Leading the home side was Vernon Evans’ rink, who won by 10 shots, while Mike Harris’ trio had a similar victory and Ron Ashby’s rink claimed a two-shot success.

Barbourne went to Gilt Edge for a game reduced to four rinks.

Edge were far too good on the day, beating Barbourne on all four rinks by 64 shots.

Barbourne’s first visit to Pineholt in Gloucester also ended in a defeat, this time by 20 shots.

The Worcester side’s only success came on Iris Yeomans’ rink by just two shots.

Consortium Cripplegate welcomed Nottingham outfit Wollaton for the first time in a match over seven mixed rinks and triumphed by four shots.
