EIGHTY-four members, both past and present, played in the annual Founders’ Day Trophy at Bishampton’s Vale Golf Club.

The competition was a team stableford and the final scores were close with the three-ball of Nic Yates, Lyndsey Parsons, Andrew Hawkins claiming the title with 87 points.

Richard Jenkins, who is the head professional at The Vale, teamed up with Sandra Cornwall and Steve Cravos to take second place on count-back after totting up 85.

Steve Young, Chris Millward and Jill Parton also finished on 85, but had to settle for third spot.

For the ladies, Pauline Kay won the longest drive compettion, while Rosie Shufflebotham was nearest the pin.

Mike Filleuil claimed the men’s longest drive title, with Geoff Scott picking up the nearest the pin award.

Following the golf, 116 members attended a dinner that also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the club opening. Paul Bille, the present owner, attended with founder owners Mary Rimell and her son Tom.

Meanwhile, the ladies’ section played their fifth medal of the season.

Silver Division: 1 Geraldine Williams (93 gross, 75 nett); 2 Sylvia Andrews (93, 76) — joint lowest gross scores for the division.

Bronze Division: 1 Margaret McCaig (96, 73 — lowest gross); 2 Jacky Waghorn (104, 77); 3 Jacqui Cravos (102, 78).

Copper Division: 1 Pat Elliott (108, 72 — lowest gross); 2 Sandra Cornwell); 113, 77); 3 Mary Carrington (115, 80).
