THE draws have been made for the preliminary rounds of next season’s North Midlands rugby union competitions.
In the North Midlands Cup, there will be two matches in the preliminary round on August 27 with Ludlow hosting Hereford and Worcester Wanderers at home to Bournville.
In the North Midlands Shield, holders Droitwich will begin their title defence with a trip to Evesham.
Bridgnorth have a bye to the first round following the withdrawal of Oswestry from their scheduled preliminary round tie.
The other Shield preliminary round ties, all to be played on September 3, are: Veseyans v Harborne, Stourbridge Lions v Shrewsbury and Kidderminster Carolians v Pershore.
Dudley Wasps, the North Midlands Vase holders, will launch their defence with a home preliminary round match against Birmingham Wyvern on September 3.
Edwardians, beaten by Dudley Wasps in May’s final at Stourbridge, will host Ross-on-Wye.
The other Vase preliminary round ties to be played on September 3 are: Ledbury v Bromyard, Chaddesley Corbett v Bredon Star, Highley v Telford Hornets, Stourport v Clee Hill and Greyhound v Birmingham Exiles.
