EVERGREEN seamer Alan Richardson has extended his Worcestershire stay by a further 12 months.

The 36-year-old, who arrived at New Road from Middlesex last term, will remain with the County until the end of next season.

During his time with Worcestershire, Richardson has taken 94 Championship wickets in 22 matches - with 39 of them coming in the eight games this term.

Having arrived at New Road with an unenviable injury record, the former Derbyshire and Warwickshire bowler has only missed two games for Worcestershire in the LV= County Championship.

With 55 wickets last term, Richardson has been a revelation for Steve Rhodes’ side since his arrival.

Having led the Worcestershire attack for the past two seasons, he has had two five-wicket hauls this campaign and in the victory over Hampshire last week, the veteran bowler took nine in the contest.

It was during that game against the Division One basement side that he claimed his 400th first-class wicket with his sixth delivery of the match.

With the ink dry on his new deal at Worcestershire, Richardson is keen to continue in the same successful run of form.

He said: “I am really enjoying my time here at New Road and look forward to carrying on my career at such a great club.”
