WORCESTER Warriors will jet off to Geneva for an intensive pre-season training camp in August as they step up their Aviva Premiership preparations.

Head coach Richard Hill has already been out to the Swiss city to run the rule over the state-of-the-art facilities and hotel bookings are being finalised.

Newly-recruited defence coach Phil Larder will also be in attendance to run tackle technique masterclasses and Hill is looking forward to having the opportunity to work round-the-clock with his players.

“It will be good to just take them away from our usual environment for a little while — we will have them from the moment they wake up until they go to bed, which gives us more time to work with them,” the Sixways chief said.

“It will be good for team bonding and being away together as a group is great for team spirit.

“I am just putting the final touches for the trip together. I have been to look at the place where we will be based just outside Geneva and the facilities are excellent.”

Meanwhile, Hill has revealed former England World Cup-winning coach Larder will not work at Sixways on a full-time basis, but will make weekly two-day visits.

Hill explained: “Phil lives in Huddersfield and, each week, he will be coming down to Worcester on a Monday afternoon and we will have a thorough review of the DVD of the previous weekend’s game.

“Phil will then meet with Phil Davies and I on Monday nights to talk through his individual findings. He’ll stay overnight in Worcester and then deliver a defensive review on Tuesday mornings.

“After that, he will go out and run defensive training sessions with the players. We will record those and he will take the video away with him.

“If he spots anything at all wrong, he will be on the phone to me to discuss it.”
