WORCESTERSHIRE Royals will bring the curtain down on a miserable Clydes-dale Bank 40 campaign with a trip to Yorkshire Carnegie today (1.45pm).

The New Road side did not win a single match in front of their own supporters and no matter what today’s result at Headingley, Worcestershire will remain rooted to the foot of the Group ‘A’ and Yorkshire second-from-bottom.

With Steve Rhodes’ focus on keeping the County in LV= Championship Divi-sion One, a young side is likely to make the trip north.

Vikram Solanki was rested for the last CB40 match, a two-wicket defeat to the Netherlands, and the 35-year-old could be given another break ahead of Wed-nesday’s Championship visit of Lanca-shire.

Eighteen-year-old Aneesh Kapil open-ed the batting in Solanki’s absence last Sunday along with in-form Moeen Ali.

Moeen, who has hit back-to-back centuries for the Royals in the CB40, struck an unbeaten 100 for Wolverhampton in the Birmingham League Premier Divi-sion against Smethick on Saturday.

Nick Harrison is likely to retain his place in the side, while Richard Jones’ return to form in the championship may see him earn a starting spot.
