WORCESTER Wanderers lost their North Midlands Cup encounter 24-20 when Bournville scored a try with only two minutes remaining.

The opening quarter was dominated by Wanderers but resolute defending kept them out and the opening try came from the visitors.

Bournville took over but dogged work restricted them until a late converted try.

Wanderers started the second-half positively and early pressure yielded a penalty for Greg Fincher. Tom Mitchell then scored unopposed in the left-hand corner but Fincher missed the conversion.

Bournville hit back to score a converted try near the posts to make it 19-8.

Worcester’s Ollie Horton crashed over with James Price missing the conversion.

Price did kick the extras though after Alex Crawshaw bagged a fine individual try with five minutes left.

But Bournville grabbed the winning try late on.
