DROITWICH outfit Rifleman’s AC’s members tackled the Arbo pool at Leigh Sinton.

Veteran matchman Richard Webster weighed in 76lbs 1oz of carp to be the comfortable winner.

Second was Ken Smith with 32-7 on the scales in order to relegate Alan Cooper to third spot weighing in 28-4.

The Droitwich Cup is at Broadacres Fishery this weekend with teams representing Rifleman’s, Barbourne, Whitehall, 100AC, Ombersley and Aero.

KC Fisheries at Hartlebury played host to Portobello club and Stuart Tibbetts narrowly won with an excellent all-carp net of 75-6 taken on paste bait from the margins.

The runner-up prize went to Gary Brixton senior who netted carp and silvers in his 69-4 bag.

Brixton’s son Gary junior came third with 58-0, while in fourth was southern exile Ron Eagle with a pellet and meat-taken 49-5.

Commercial fisheries have been in peak form with Moorlands Farm hosting events every day. Winner of the 30-peg Saturday open on Meadow and Bank pools was Kevin Slade who netted 123-10 of carp on pellet at four metres from Bank peg 20.

Second was Wayne Mellings (Dynamite Baits) with 121-2 ahead of third-placed Chris Bradney (Stevens Tackle) with 110-10.

Sunday’s 28-pegger on the Moors and Island pools was won by Paul Nash (Moorlands) with 85-10 of F1s taken on pellet from peg 20 on Moors.

Fishery manager Mal Watson came second with 77-5 and third was John Cooper (Moorlands) with 75-9.

ANDREW Murphy put in a sterling display to take top spot and the £6,000 cheque in the Shakespeare Championship at Evesham Angling Festival.

The Welsh international was among 70 competitors and stuck to the safe small fish option from peg 49 which proved the correct decision.

Murphy finished with 13lbs 11oz from the River Avon.

Jon Arthur added the Abu Garcia Wychavon Championship title to his angling CV and Daiwa Dorking won the Match Fishing Team trophy.
