GRAHAM Turner is hoping the visit of Leicester City in the Carling Cup can be another memorable occasion at Edgar Street.

Hereford United lock horns with the Championship side tonight in a mouth-watering second round clash (7.45) just a month after beating Coventry City 3-1 to set up the tie.

The match will stir memories of the last meeting between the two sides when Hereford took Leicester to an FA Cup third round replay in December 1999.

A goalless draw at Edgar Street against the then-Premiership side set up a replay at the Foxes' former Filbert Street base, when the hosts came from behind to win 2-1.

But boss Turner, who saw his side bounce back from two straight defeats to beat Bury 1-0 on Saturday, wants his side to draw on their experiences of the Coventry success.

He said: "We are not playing as well as I would have liked but we had an outstanding result against Coventry and we have got to make sure we try to emulate that.

"It's a big game for the club. I think it's one we can all look forward to. They are the second Championship club to visit us this season.

"It's great for the club to be involved in the second round and entertaining a Championship club."

Stuart Fleetwood scored a hat-trick to send Micky Adams' Coventry packing and Turner knows Leicester, fresh from a 1-1 draw at Roy Keane's Sunderland, will be wary of his side.

"Leicester will not be relishing coming here, that's for certain," Turner said. "They know it's a tricky tie for them.

"The report about them at Sunderland was quite complimentary but it's a great opportunity for the players and it's a great opportunity for the supporters."

Skipper Tamika Mkandawire is the only doubt ahead of the game after the defender missed training yesterday with an infection.

However, Turner is confident the key centre-half will be fit to take his place in the squad.

Goalkeeper Wayne Brown is set to continue after making his welcome comeback at the weekend.

Hereford may also be bouyed by the fact Leicester are yet to win on their travels and had not scored until Matt Fryatt netted at the Stadium of Light.

Leicester are managed by Rob Kelly, signed by Turner to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1987.

And assistant manager Mike Stowell was number one goalkeeper at Molineux for four years under Turner from 1990.
