UNIVERSITY of Worcester staff and students have helped England’s blind futsal team into the IBSA European Championships semi-finals.
They play Spain in Turkey tomorrow for a place in Saturday’s final.
Key player Keryn Seal is one of the university’s graduates as is sighted keeper Lewis Skyers.
Another player, Owen Bainbridge, is their first visually impaired scholarship student and coach David Mycock is a lecturer in the city.
England ended their group stage with a 1-1 draw against reigning champions France.
Seal worked tirelessly in defence to keep the French attack at bay.
Skipper David Clarke won a penalty in the second-half and converted confidently to give England the lead.
France grabbed a late equaliser but the Three Lions remained unbeaten in the group after a 2-2 draw with Germany and a 6-0 thrashing of Italy.
