WORCESTER Wanderers travelled to Ludlow and recorded a fine 34-10 bonus point win in Midlands One (West).

The Sixways side absorbed early pressure from the Shropshire hosts and only a forward pass denied them the opening try.

Wanderers continued to apply pressure, but a forced pass was intercepted on the hosts’ line and their winger won the foot race to open the scoring.

The visitors attacked from the re-start and enjoyed a period of sustained territorial dominance.

Greg Fincher capitalised with two penalties to reduce the deficit to a point.

Ludlow were warned for persistent infringement in the red zone, but Wanderers lacked composure to breakdown the home side’s impressive scrambled defence.

The second-half began as the first ended — with Wanderers enjoying the territorial dominance.

A lovely show-and-go by Fincher led to him gliding in under the posts unopposed for his side’s opening score to give Wanderers a six-point lead.

The Worcester team continued to profit and converted tries from Rob Southwood and the impressive Paul Burton gave them breathing space.

The game opened up as Wanderers pressed for their fourth try, while Ludlow looked lively in open play.

However, with the last play of the game, Ollie Horton, on for the injured Jake Saddington, broke through in midfield and off-loaded to debutant Will Jackson, who finished off under the posts to leave Fincher with a simple conversion.

It was a tough contest played in great spirit to the final whistle.
