PERSHORE overturned a 14-point deficit after just seven minutes to register a 22-21 victory against Nuneaton Old Edwardians in Midlands Three West (South).

The visitors were ahead through a converted try after just two minutes and they doubled their advantage from the ensuing kick-off.

But Pershore got back into the game and, after a period of pressure, James Martin kicked the resulting penalty.

Nuneaton's defence was all over the place and good hands from Hope and Martin released Andy Jenkinson, who outsprinted the covering defence to score under the posts, with Martin converting.

Nuneaton's scrummage gave Pershore a torrid time and they conceded seven scrums on their line which eventually led to a Nuneaton try.

When Ian Hurley straightened up a misplaced pass in the backs, Martin looped around him and passed to Marcus Whyte to touch down.

The difficult conversion was missed but Pershore attacked at every opportunity. With the last play of the match, Pershore threw in the line-out on Nuneaton's 22'. The ball was caught, made secure and the forwards began to drive Nuneaton backwards.

Nuneaton collapsed the maul but, with three points not enough to win the game, evergreen scrum-half Sid Hirons tapped a quick penalty, Whyte hit the ball at full pelt five metres out and just managed to dive over.

Martin slotted the penalty to secure a dramatic victory.
