WORCESTER men's seconds continued their troubled start to the season with a heavy 6-1 defeat to Hampton-in-Arden.

They started with a mixed team of new and old members for the second week running, making a promising start.

Tom Lewis put Worcester ahead from their first attack but Hampton improved by the minute and goals flowed in both halves.

Four under 15s players helped Worcester thirds to a 4-1 win over GEC Rugby.

They started well and skipper Mark Chambers smashed a shot into the right-hand corner following a short corner.

Worcester pushed on and classy veteran J Senior added a second goal.

Young Chris Kendall combined with Tom Coleman who coolly slotted the ball under the 'keeper before half time.

Worcester started the second-half well but GEC Rugby scored against the run of play.

But the city side dug deep and produced great hockey through youngster Rob Mackichan and Chris Simmonds, resulting in a fine goal from Matt Walker.

The fourths started positively against Rugby thirds but were soon two goals down to their opponents, despite the best efforts of 'keeper Scott Bashford.

But Worcester were not deterred and pulled a goal back from a flowing move. As the half continued, Worcester looked stronger and Andy Hadley released Simon Tinley who went round the 'keeper but hit the post from a tight angle.

They equalised when York Senior found Tinley who neatly glanced his effort into the net.

Andy Hares put them ahead from Senior's run into the D' and pass before the interval.

Worcester applied most of the pressure in the second period and Tinley made no mistake from another Senior assist.

The visitors missed a string of further chances and conceded a controversial third to Rugby as the game ended 4-3.

In an exciting end-to-end game, the sixths beat Old Sils fourths 7-5 after going behind to a soft goal.

Worcester were 3-1 ahead after 20 minutes and led 4-2 by half-time before continuing to control the second period.

In a close game, Worcester Potters Badgers beat Bromsgrove 2-0.

Both teams played positive, passing hockey but neither could force a goal in the first-half.

Worcester took the initiative from then on and Carl Lawson converted from the edge of the circle following a good right-wing move.

They forced a second through Jack White after another fine passing move.
