WORCESTER City expect top transfer target Danny Glover to have made a decision on his future before pre-season.
The 22-year-old striker has held talks with the St George’s Lane club about a possible return after leaving for Nuneaton Town last summer.
City had hoped for a decision already but Glover, who rejected a deal at the Liberty Stadium following Nuneaton’s promotion last month when he scored 21 goals, is being courted by a number of suitors, including at least one in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Carl Heeley’s men report back for pre-season training at Pershore High School next Tuesday evening and would like to be able to include Glover.
Assistant manager Matt Gardiner said: “Danny has had another good season at Nuneaton and clubs are interested in him.
“We are in a battle with clubs from a league above. He is on holiday for a week so we are waiting for him to make a decision. He doesn’t want to drag it out any longer.”
City are also weighing up their options at left-back after Ellis Deeney was handed an eight-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, for his part in a brawl outside a Birmingham nightclub. He admitted affray.
Replacing midfielder Kevin O’Connor, following the skipper’s return to Ireland to play for Bray Wanderers, is also a priority.
Gardiner added: “We may need to look at the left-back situation and in central midfield.
“If a good player comes up, we will have a look at them.”
