WORCESTER Wolves host Manchester Giants tonight (7pm) aiming to record their first home victory of the new British Basketball League campaign.

Paul James’ side lost by six points to Durham Wildcats at the University of Worcester last Saturday and are intent on setting the record straight.

“We don’t want to be out of the running in the league in the first two weeks so it’s imperative we get something,” he said.

“They’ve got England internationals in their team and are new to the league so they’ve got nothing to lose. I think all the pressure is on us.

“I was very pleased with the home support last weekend, just a little bit disappointed we couldn’t get them the victory that we perhaps should have got, but it’s early days and we will get better as the season goes on.”

Manchester are a new franchise in the competition this season and began with a narrow 85-84 win over London Lions, formerly the Milton Keynes Lions.

They were due to host Sheffield Sharks last night, while Wolves were on the road at defending champions Newcastle Eagles.

James is familiar with the Giants line-up, including ex-Worcester duo Callum Jones and David Watts, and knows what to expect.

He said: “A lot of the boys I’ve worked with before like James Jones, Callum and David so they’re a team who have a lot of talent.”
