WORCESTER Warriors look set to be without winger Nikki Walker and scrum-half Shaun Perry for Sunday’s Aviva Premiership trip to Wasps.

Scotland international Walker felt a twinge in his thigh during the warm-up before Friday’s 35-11 win over London Irish, but opted to play on, only to pull a muscle after nine minutes and was replaced by Jon Clarke.

Veteran number nine Perry was ruled out by a knock to his knee before the game with Jonny Arr replacing him, but he was seen on crutches at Sixways , which suggests the injury will require further recuperation.

After the game, head coach Richard Hill didn’t seem overly perturbed by either injury, suggesting neither player should be on the treatment table for too long.

Perry’s absence will be softened by the imminent return of Paul Hodgson, who should be in line for a Warriors debut at Adams Park.

The former London Irish scrum-half has not yet featured since moving to Sixways in the summer, but will face a tough task to dislodge the impressive Arr from the number nine jersey.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s game, Hill revealed the comeback to snatch two bonus points in defeat at Northampton had been a big catalyst for his players.

He said: “I’m sure we took confidence from that. If a team lacked confidence, at 37-3 down they would have gone, the player’s heads would have gone.

“But even at 37-3, we knew we were better than that, there was a hunger to score more.

“I could sense there were a few jitters against Irish, we needed to get on top to settle a few nerves. By midway through the second-half, we looked like we had won the game, but I was happy to see the fourth try go over.

“We should go to Wasps full of confidence now. It is a tough place to go, but we had a win down there last year 6-0.”

On Walker’s injury, Hill added: “Nikki tweaked his thigh in the warm-up before the game.

“It tightened and cramped up on him.

“It was a tough ask for Jon Clarke coming onto the wing, but he did a very good job for us.”
