MANAGER Carl Heeley described Worcester City’s victory at Solihull Moors as a classic away performance.

Tom Thorley struck the decisive goal at Damson Park as City won their first away match of the season in Blue Square Bet North.

“We are chuffed to bits,” the Worcester boss said. “It was a blustery, horrible night with a driving wind in our faces in the first-half and against a Solihull side who were a bit one dimensional and direct.

“We had to deal with that and we had to do the ugly things. It was a classic away perfromance and I thought we were comfortable.”

He added: “I thought we had a dozen good situations in the match and the final ball was lacking but the time it came together we got our goal from it. It was a lovely move, a great ball in by Charlie Reece and a good finish by Tom.”

Heeley also felt his side had put the disappointment of drawing 2-2 with Harrogate Town last Saturday behind them.

He said: “You are going to concede late goals and there were things we weren’t happy with against Harrogate, like the way we dealt with the throw in for their goal.

“But we had a similar situation against Solihull. A minute into injury-time they had a throw-in but this time we won the header so they’ve learned from it and the result was three points.”
