GLYN Thompson will be fit for Worcester City’s FA Cup third qualifying round clash at Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

The goalkeeper picked up a thigh strain in last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Harrogate Town and missed Tuesday night’s 1-0 win at Solihull Moors.

Matt Sargeant proved an able deputy at Damson Park but manager Carl Heeley expects his number one to be ready.

Centre-half Jacob Rowe should also have shaken off a groin strain sustained against Solihull although to Worcester boss is less confident of him being available.

“Glyn will be fine for the weekend so that gives us another option,” Heeley said. “Matt’s a good keeper with a super attitude and he’s competing for a place with a top player.

“Glyn was feeling his thigh a little bit, he could have played, but we didn’t feel we were in a position to gamble on his fitness. It was more precautionary but Matt has kept a clean sheet and he was faultless.

“It is a slight concern with Jacob but he’s a young lad and the injury will settle down quickly. He could have carried on but it wasn’t going to get any better.”

On the omission of striker Mike Symons’ in mid-week, Heeley added: “He was fine to start, it was just down to selection. It’s the strength in depth we’ve got.”
