Kidderminster Harriers enjoyed a positive start to their pre-season programme with a win over a youthful Aston Villa side.

Goals from Ashley Chambers, Ed Williams and Knory Scott secured in a 3-1 win, with Rushian Hepburn-Murphy replying for the visitors, who fielded mainly youth players.

A crowd of 1,527, including 325 visiting fans, watched John Pemberton's team take the lead after Milan Butterfield's pass was steered home by Chambers.

Ed Williams then put Harriers 2-0 up before Hepburn-Murphy hit back just before half-time.

Scott made it 3-1 shorlty after the hour mark which was enough to beat a Villa side containing few recognisable faces.

Harriers face Bristol Rovers at Aggborough tomorrow, then travel to Stourport Swifts on Tuesday evening, before games against Bromsgrove Sporting and Stourbridge.

There may be an opportunity to watch some Premier League stars in action on Wednesday, July 24 when a Wolverhampton Wanderers XI visit, before the pre-season fixture list comes to an end against Halesowen on July 27.

Kidderminster then kick-off their opening National League North match on Saturday, August 3 at home to Leamington.

Meanwhile, an Evesham United side made up of youth players and trialists put in a good showing before losing to a last-minute goal against Black Country Rangers.

It was 1-1 heading into the closing moments of the game in Rowley Regis, before the home side netted a late winner.
