The climax of the inaugural UK Pro Series tennis tournament will be broadcast globally after the rights holder, River Media Partners, secured a number of broadcast deals for the competition’s Classic Week.

Deals with Eleven Sports-owned digital platform “LIVENOW”, Discovery’s Eurosport Player and UK free to air sports channel Free Sports have secured a global platform for the cream of Britain’s tennis talent as they emerge from lockdown and duel it out in Weybridge.

The tournament, the brainchild of Andy Murray’s coach Jamie Delgado working with sports media agency River Media Partners, has been running for the previous five weeks and has now entered its final Classic Week at St. George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club.

The final three days of the tournament will have national free to air coverage on Free Sports, being available on Freeview Channel 64, Sky Channel 422, Virgin Media Channel 553, TalkTalkTV Channel 64, BT TV Channel 64 and on the free to download app FreeSportsPlayer.tv.

And the whole week will be available on Eurosport Player and LIVENOW, with news highlights being distributed by top global news agency SNTV.

The UK Pro Series adopts a unique format, with the winner of each of the previous five individual qualifying weeks booking their place in Classic Week.

Naomi Broady, Harriet Dart, Jodie Burrage, Emma Radacnu and Eden Silva feature in the women’s draw while James Ward, Anton Matusevich, Arthur Fery and Liam Broady are among the chief protagonists in the men's.

The innovative competition has given over 60 of Britain’s leading professional tennis players an intense reintroduction to tournament play. The league and qualification format have seen the competition billed as the “Premier League of British Tennis”.

The tennis community around the country has been hit hard by lockdown but with a total prize fund of $500,000 up for grabs, the tournament’s Covid-compliant, socially-distanced and behind closed doors nature provides the perfect opportunity for players to get back on their feet.

The event’s resounding success means it looks set to return to the British tennis calendar in 2021, with nine events in the pipeline across nine months and the winner being crowned unofficial ‘UK Champion’.

River Media Partners are currently working with both the LTA and Jamie Murray’s Battle of the Brits in order to establish complimentary scheduling across next season.

River Media Partners Principal Ben Nicholas said: “It has been fantastic to develop a format and event that enables the UK professional tennis players to return to competition and to be able to secure broadcast agreements to give the UK Pro Series such a strong profile.

“We are excited at the prospect of further developing the format into future years and establishing this as one of the go to series of the British Tennis Calendar.

“We are working with the LTA and other UK rights holders to ensure that the collaborative tennis schedule enables the UK professionals to develop their game and become increasingly competitive at the highest levels.”
