MOEEN Ali is being rested for England's T20 Tri-Series with Australia and New Zealand next month.
The Worcestershire all-rounder is one of England's three-format players and will sit out the series from February 7 to 21 along with Jonny Bairstow.
Moeen has been included in the squad for the five-match one-day international series against Australia from January 14 to 28 which follows on from the Ashes.
He will then get a chance to recharge the batteries in a demanding winter of cricket before his expected return for the touring party for the series against the Black Caps.
The squad for the Test series against New Zealand will be announced tomorrow evening.
England's miserable Test tour of Australia was completed as they were swept aside by an innings and 123 runs in Sydney to slide to a 4-0 Ashes series defeat.
Moeen dismissed captain and former County player Steve Smith along with Mitchell Starc in taking 2-170 from 48 overs in Australia's 649-7 declared.
With the bat, the 30-year-old contributed 30 and 13 from 58 and 43 balls respectively as England were bowled out for 346 and just 180.
