WORCESTER Wolves have signed former Plymouth Raiders player Michael Ojo.

The 28-year-old guard joins the club ahead of the BBL Cup final which will see Wolves take on Cheshire Phoenix at the Birmingham Arena later this month.

His arrival also comes as the team looks to continue its nine-game winning streak.

Ojo was on Plymouth's books in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons after playing for Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.

During his time at Raiders, Ojo helped the team make it to the BBL Cup and Trophy finals and in his final campaign averaged 22.5 points per game.

The 6ft 5in British-American has since gained experience in multiple European leagues, including Italian team La Briosa Barcellona, and finished last season at the Austria-A Bundesliga side, Basket Swans Gmunden.

Head coach Paul James said: “Ojo is a fantastic and exciting addition to our team.

"He is a real high level combo guard who brings with him experience of the BBL and more recently of playing in Europe.

“To be able to secure a player of Ojo’s calibre is great news for the club and Wolves’ supporters and is thanks to the hard work of a number of people at the club over Christmas.”

Wolves managing director Mick Donovan added: “We are absolutely thrilled with this signing and we firmly believe that Michael’s arrival will take us to yet another level.

"Seeing the commitment of the fans, volunteers and staff at the club, week in and week out is one of our greatest motivations to continue to improve the team.

"We currently have a very talented group of players and we have worked very hard over the Christmas break to bring Michael to Worcester to join them.”
