WARRIORS.
6 Pennell – made a few dashes and was involved in the build-up to Humphreys’ try but squandered a great scoring chance for Warriors in the second half.
7 Humphreys – bounced back from a sorry showing last week with a try-scoring display as he picked a great line to benefit from du Preez’s neat pass.
6 Beck – returning to the side, the centre played with purpose when he did get hold of the ball but also made a couple of handling errors.
6 Mills – was robust in defence and assisted Hill’s try but was guilty of forcing it at times, notably throwing a risky, long-range pass out wide late on.
7 Nanai – a much improved performance from the wing who made some great runs and was strong defensively as he crunched number eight Thompson.
7 Weir – hit the upright and sent another kick out on the full but otherwise kicked superbly off the tee, especially from distance, and out of hand.
6 Hougaard – worked his socks off as usual but his delivery was not as accurate as normal and missed far too many tackles.
5 Black – held firm in defence but two early errors led to Tigers’ first points and another scrum penalty allowed Hardwick to add a further three.
7 Annett – put in a big shift defensively and carried well as he looked to get his hands on the ball as often as possible. He was solid at the lineout too.
6 Carey – made the odd mistake but crucially overpowered Bateman in the scrum with five minutes left and Weir converted the resultant penalty.
7 Bresler – may have chopped his locks but was still his usual full-throttle self as he clattered forward on a number of occasions to get Warriors on the front foot.
5 Kitchener – was penalised for not rolling away three times against his former club but did claim one lineout steal before being replaced by Fatialofa.
8 HILL – used all his power to smash his way over the try-line, put in thumping tackles and got a crucial lineout steal just before half-time. My man of the match.
6 Mama – was another effective carrier for Warriors but the captain-for-the-day put his side under pressure when giving away a series of penalties.
7 Du Preez – picked ahead of skipper van Velze, the number eight justified his place with a strong showing as he showed great awareness to assist Humphreys’ try.
