Second Worcestershire's. Captain G E G McClellan was shot through the heart by a sniper. His loss was much felt, for he had inspired all who saw him by his courage and contempt for danger. Hohenzollern Redoubt blazed with fighting. 
11th Worcestershires recalled to Fouilloy.
Tenth Battalion are in reserve trenches at Mauvais, except for A Company who are occupying Festubert East and Le Plantin Post East.

City Police Court. Wednesday before Messrs J Mayglothing, W R Higgs, WGR Stone, A H Constance and T Grimmer. Deserter. Thomas Andrews (28) of 3 Vine Cottages, The Butts and a private in the 3/8th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment was charged with being a deserter. He pleaded guilty. Sergeant Wilkes said that he went to the house and defendant at first denied that he was a deserter but eventually admitted it. He was remanded to await an escort.
