The heroics of the medics involved in the First World War is uncovered in an event at Greyfriars’ House and Gardens in Worcester, on 22 August.
It is one of a number of events and displays at National Trust places across the West Midlands commemorating the anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War anduncovering links to the conflict.
At Coughton Court in Warwickshire, a new exhibition – Coughton at War – looks at the conflicts over the centuries that have shaped its history. The exhibition features the diaries of Courtenay Throckmorton, the ‘lost heir’ of Coughton Court who served in Gallipoli and was later killed in action in Mesopotamia.
Volunteers at Charlecote Park in Warwickshire have been researching the connections between residents and horses that were sent off to war, culminating in a display in the carriage rooms.
