AN award winning photographer and First World War authority is to give a talk in Malvern about the conflict.

Michael St Maur Sheil has spent the last eight years documenting the 1914-18 battlefields as they are today and will be talking about them at an event at Malvern Theatres on Wednesday, July 15 staring at 7.30pm.

This evening will take in a world tour, from familiar battlefields, such as the Somme and Ypres to other lesser-known fronts such as Palestine and East Africa, all captured in photographs which have been described as “works of art in their own right".

Mr St Maur Sheil is not only a photographer, but also a member of the British Commission for Military History and a respected battlefield guide with an almost unrivalled knowledge of the “battlescapes” of the Great War. In addition to his open air photographic exhibition Fields of Battle, he has created the photographs for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission centenary book For the Fallen, which celebrates the work of the Commission around the world.
