Nuclear Row

A row over the storage and transportation of nuclear waste through Cricklewood threatened to flare up again at the London assembly last week.

Plans for a marshalling yard at Cricklewood for trains carrying waste were abandoned after mass protests from locals but British Nuclear Fuels now has similar plans for Willesden. At a GLA meeting last week, members opted to hold an inquiry into the health and environmental impacts of the waste traffic and to consult with communities living near the routes.
