SIR –Why is it when a recent Survey shows that Worcester is the most congested city after London, our stupid council, persists in thinking that dualling the Carrington Bridge instead of completing the Ring Road and asking for funding for the new bridge at Bevere is the right idea?
I think that it is time the people of Worcester and those using the congested Carrington Bridge had a referendum and were given a chance to vote about the new bridge and then perhaps we will at last get it done before we all come to a standstill.
Businesses are avoiding coming to Worcester. Closing Perdiswell Park & Ride all added to the problem. There should be four Park & Rides round Worcester, with proper bus services to enable people to get to work.
A couple of weeks ago when we were coming back from Droitwich the traffic going north was right back into town and along A449 to Junction 6 (but the problem was not on the M5) and then back along the A4420 to the Ketch Island and Carrington Bridge. The problem was an accident at Powick Island.
