SCORES of people will enjoy a popular vegan fayre when it returns this month.

There will be a vegan barbeque, upcycled furniture, plants and vegan-friendly stalls at this year's Vegan Fayre organised by RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire Branch.

The popular plant-based event returns to  RSPCA centre at Kempsey, on Holdings Lane, Kempsey, on Sunday, August 27 from 11am to 4pm.

The fayre is coming back after its success last year and the money raised will help to fund the ongoing care of the animals in need of rehoming at the centre.

More than 230 cats have already come through the doors at the branch in Kempsey, which is a 32 per cent rise compared to the same period last year.

Claire Wood, from RSPCA Worcester and Mid-Worcestershire Branch, said: "After last year’s highly successful vegan fayre we are very excited to be bringing it once again to our Kempsey rescue and rehoming centre.

“If you are in a position to take on a pet, please do consider rehoming and not buying.

“We’re seeing a record number of unwanted cats and the situation is showing no sign of slowing down.

"Together with our small team of fosterers, we’ve currently got 48 cats and kittens in our care and we also have a long waiting list.

"We’re also getting calls on an almost daily basis from people who want to relinquish their pets, it’s heartbreaking."

Funding will help support cats such as five-year-old Alan who has spent the past three years being fed as a stray.

Patch has also been a stray who could have been living on the streets for at least six months.

"We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended, from the stallholders to those who came along to support us and of course our incredible volunteers.

"We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

"We had some lovely feedback and we do hope to bring it back again to The Holdings next year."
