A PUB which a popular landlord put his heart and soul into before his death has started serving food again.

The Paul Pry had temporarily stopped serving food following the death of its landlord, Alex Pope, in January.

The 39-year-old ran the popular pub in The Butts from 2017 and bought it in 2022, quickly turning it into one of the best-loved pubs in the city.

The watering hole revealed it would be reopening its kitchen again since Mr Pope's death to serve its iconic Sunday roast again.

Within an hour of posting the announcement, it was fully booked.

A spokesperson for The Paul Pry said they are thrilled that they can still provide food for the Worcester people in memory of Alex.

It added: "We are very happy to be welcoming everyone back.

"We are overwhelmed with the support and encouragement we have received given the circumstances of why we had to temporarily stop.

"We were fully booked up on Easter Sunday within an hour of posting the announcement, so we are thrilled that we can do this for Alex, our brother and chef."

The Paul Pry is renowned for its Sunday lunches, and many visitors have to book a table a month in advance.

Alex Pope had previously told the Worcester News: "We are best known for our Sunday lunch.

"During the lockdown, it escalated into a crazy thing and over Easter weekend (April 2022), we did over 200 deliveries."

The pub, based in The Butts, had closed following Mr Pope's death and then reopened for customers to raise a glass to the landlord on January 21

It has since been open for drinks.
