SIR – Regarding the letter from Dr Erich H Jones ‘Quite simply, we deserve better than this’ (Worcester News, October 29).

He makes some important points, not least that the South Worcestershire Development Plan is being imposed upon us all by those who have become our dictators. For far too long now our politicians have used mass immigration to fuel the demand for housing, and thus provide increasing demand for consumer goods – so called “growth and development” – thereby giving commerce its profits.

Growth and development has concreted over thousands of square miles of our countryside forever. The South Worcestershire Development Plan to concrete over another four square miles of Worcestershire’s countryside is merely a very local version of national policy, which has been pursued for decades, by the LibLabCon.

And as our councillors are integral parts of the party machinery there is no possibility of public opinion substantially altering these plans. That’s why “consultation” is a sick joke, and we are going to have tens of thousands more people living in our midst.

Politicians have said our national population will be 80 million by 2050. That’s about 15 million more people that we have now.

Those people will require some six million new homes. That means concreting over an area of land seven times the size of the Lake District.

That future development will provide a continual stream of profits and bonuses, to our politician’s ‘mates’ in the city of London, which is why the City puts a few crumbs into LibLabCon party coffers, and sprinkles directorships around our MPs to secure the “growth and development” policies, which perpetuate its wealth. Thus the rich, in the City of London can ‘buy’ the policies they want; we the ‘poor’ cannot, which explains why our councillors and MPs never vehemently oppose the growth and development which is burying our farms and our countryside in concrete.
