Sir – Tom Edwards reported on residents’ fury at plans to protect schoolchildren from dog mess (Worcester News, November 6).
I am not surprised. Parks are public places and not for exclusive use of certain sections of the community.
I have always been sympathetic to most efforts to contain the disgusting habit of dog owners failing to clear up the mess of their pets, but Worcestershire County Council is exceeding its rights if it thinks it can fence off part of Pitmaston Park for the exclusive use of children at a primary school in that area.
Imagine the outcry if such a proposal was on the table for parks such as Cripplegate and Gheluvelt.
This latest plan is taking health and safety too far.
