SIR – I am a senior citizen from Lancashire. I would not normally write to a local newspaper, but following a recent visit to your city, felt the need to share my thoughts.
I have been travelling to Worcester for the past 10 years to visit my daughter and her family and while I have always enjoyed my visits, my trip last month highlighted what a welcoming city you have.
I arrived by train on Friday, October 26, and had major problems securing a taxi.
I later learned that there was a restricted service due to the Eid festival and drivers were on leave.
While trying to get to Hallow, I made my way by bus as far as St John’s, with which I am familiar.
It was a really cold day and I went into the Co-operative supermarket to ask for help.
It was gratifying to find two assistants who were keen to help by securing a taxi and went out of their way to support me at what seemed a busy time within the store.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for their assistance in dealing with my request.
I was so grateful for their kindness and feel it should be acknowledged.
