SIR - As former residents of Lowesmoor, we fondly remember Heenan & Froude as an industrial factory, with a large hooter that used to blow at the following times: 7.30am work commencement; 12.30pm lunch; 5.30pm end of working day. It was also always sounded on New Year's Eve to welcome in the new year. Strangely poignant, this last one.
