SIR – James Connell (Worcester News, December 8) reports that a pioneering GP scheme cuts hospital treatment.

The public have for some time been appreciative of the paramedics and the wonderful service they provide.

The so-called GP with ambulance service since its launch in October has resulted in 155 people being seen by doctors and, of those 999 patients, 134 were kept out of hospital.

Previously, despite the marvellous work of the paramedics those patients would have been transported for treatment at hospital.

This new service has surely proved its potential and it is to be hoped it will continue after the trial period ends in March.
