SIR –The Worcester News on a Saturday is always worth buying despite the increased price.

Julie Royle’s walks are a must read and something well worth doing.

The beauty of Julie’s walks are that they are achievable and comprehensively described. The walk around Hallow that Julie featured on Saturday, July 3, I know well but I couldn’t help but wonder when looking at the ordnance survey map featured how fantastic it would be if Julie could have popped over the river Severn to include the Northwick heritage trail.

There’s just one thing missing though, a northern cycle/footbridge over the river Severn which would enable Julie to do just that.

Just imagine if residents in Northwick, Claines and Bevere were able to cross the river to the other side and residents in Hallow, Grimley and Henwick were able to cross the other way.

There are endless possibilities to have a really nice day out either side of the river with lots to see and do.

There would also be enormous benefits to health to be gained, not just physical but mental too.

Given the wonderful weather we have been having it would be so lovely to leave the car at home, pop over to the other of side of the river for a refreshing drink.

Given these austere times what a boost it would be for every pub in the vicinity if we could just venture a bit further than we do.

Yes, a new bridge would come at a cost but this would be an infrastructure project which would be money well spent. Look at how hugely popular the Sabrina and the Diglis bridges are.

A new bridge to the north of the city would open up so many fantastic opportunities, so it should be given serious consideration.
