SIR – Re the debate about the Perdiswell park and ride to the city centre.

I have lived in the centre of Worcester for 20 years and have observed the park and ride bus from Perdiswell to the city centre at all times of the day.

I and others have pointed out over the years that it has not done the job it was meant to do.

I do know if it had been a privately run service it would have gone under within the first six months.

But as it was, it was a sacred cow. I bet it was losing £200,000 per annum or more.

You cannot compare Oxford’s park and ride with Worcester’s.

At long last we are going to save the taxpayers’ money.

I dread to think what losses have been made overall and what the costs to install it would have been. Park and ride is a very good concept if people have the right mentality to use it, but the car is king.
