SIR – The Worcester News calls those in opposition to a lap dancing club the “No sex in the city lobby”

(September 25).

This is doubly wrong, since lap dancing isn’t sex and neither are the protesters opposed to actual sex, presumably.

The term seems designed to paint the objectors as comically moralising or prudish.

And that is lazy. I’m as liberal as they come but there are legitimate concerns about this industry, what it implies about equality in our society, and the impact it can have on individuals’ lives.

It’s not a joke and the concerns are genuine, serious and should not be reduced to antiquated moral attitudes.
