SIR – The council seem to be in a bit of a quandry over paying the people on the lowest pay to give them a living wage and really it’s quite easy.

Take the money from the people at the top because they’ve been paid very generous and over-inflated salaries probably for less work than those at the bottom and usually the work done by the bottom people is more important than those at the top.

Even some of the councillors are claiming more in expenses and theirs is supposed to be part-time, so it’s not really a hard problem. The money the council receives should be shared more equally and the greedy lot at the top shouldn’t be allowed to take the lion’s share.
