SIR – I was absolutely astonished to read Tom Edwards’ article in respect to secret negotiations to help fund the proposed swimming pool at Perdiswell.
To have veiled secret talks with a big name supermarket to build a new foodstore at Perdiswell defies belief.
If this suggestion by the current administration is true – and I will include the Green Councillor and the two Lib Dem Councillors as part of the administration – and it is to be built on precious green public open space within the boundary of Perdiswell and not for getting a possible football stadium, then they should be ashamed of themselves.
Selling their souls for 20 pieces of silver to concrete over quality green public open space. Cripplegate comes to mind and is still familliar in people’s minds even today.
