SIR – Could it be that Worcester has reached the end of the tunnel as far as a new swimming pool is concerned? It may well be, if what the swimming club chairman Adele Rimell says is correct, (Worcester News, November 18).
She states that the club have recently been to Leeds where a six-lane pool had been built only last year for £2.2 million and that they were aware of eight-lane pools being marketed for no more than £5 million.
Competition between pool designers has resulted in prices being reduced to a more realistic level, so we can but hope that our council will now be in a position to negotiate a fairer price and even obtain that elusive eight-lane pool, which only recently our new Labour leaders quite rightly said was far too costly at £13 million.
