SIR – Apart from the publicity given by Gema Bate’s article (Worcester News, December 31) on the dangerous exposed street light wiring in Lichfield Avenue, Ronkswood, it would be interesting to know if and how many times the matter has been reported to the county council by a member of the public.

I find that when I report things such as water leaks, failed street lights, exposed lighting column wiring, overgrown trees/hedges and so forth to the relevent authorities that the problem is rectified soon after.

It does occur to me, however, that many people tend to leave it to someone else, or assume the matter has already been reported.

People do not realise that unless situations such as these are reported, the authorities concerned are not always aware of any problem.
