Sir - The article by Tom Edwards (Worcester News 4th April),makes me wonder if Roger Clews, the government housing Inspector has an interest in the car industry.

He is insisting that more than 28,000 homes needs to be found across south Worcestershire-5,000 more than first planned. That would result in another 56,000 more cars to clutter up our already overloaded roads.

I make two observations here. One :Worcester city cannot take much more traffic (which would be increased by some of these new homes)without a proper road structure, including completion of the northern link, and two: the city is presently over-crowded with houses and it is scandalous to spoil the beauty of Worcestershire for the sake of Birmingham where many of the new occupants woud commute to.
