Sir - I thought maybe it was just Cathedral Ward Labour councillors who can travel in time since they claimed credit for getting money to improve Diglis Field which actually was allocated before either of them was elected to Worcester City Council. But no!-it seems from the latest Labour leaflet that City Council leader Adrian Gregson & parliamentary candidate Councillor Joy Squires have this phenomenal ability too.

They claim credit for supporting young people's access to jobs, regenerating the Cornmarket area, and supporting local businesses and new business start-ups, all of which were started by the previous Conservative-led council and have nothing to do with them. I wonder if in future we'll see Labour dare to claim credit for improvements to Fort Royal Park when Councillor Squires is on record of having opposed the work.

But the claim that I personally object to most is that the Labour council is 'working much more closely' with local groups like Friends of Diglis and Friends of Fort Royal. Since I am a volunteer with both groups and live in Diglis, I know at first hand that this is false. In fact, it's an insult to council staff who have always unfailingly worked very hard and closely with local residents-let alone to those of us who live in the area.

I suppose that Labour campaign leaders think they are being very clever when they write these credit-claiming leaflets. But all it shows is that they are desperate to win at all costs and don't care if what they write is true or not.
