Sir - The Spetchley Road Area Residents' Association was delighted to read the news last week regarding the County Council's proposed expansion to County Hall's car parks, providing two hundred extra spaces. Over the years, the Chairman, Keith Burton and other members of the Association's Committee, have attended meetings, lobbied the Council to ease our serious parking problems, met with the Principals of both educational establishments in the Road, written numerous letters and talked at length with Councillors and Council officers.
The congestion in the Road has reached crisis level, which presented a danger previous to the latest induction of employees to County Hall. It is a shame that the situation had to become so serious before anything was done. At last, the County Council has listened to us. However, we will wait to see the effect just two hundred spaces has on the problem.
We are very appreciative of the support we have received from Councillor Richard Boorn in our efforts and for voicing our concerns on various occasions. We are grateful for his continuing of the work that we began several years ago and which we continue to do. We hope that the proposed plans go some way to re-establishing the residents' quality of life.
Janet Jarvis, Secretary SRARA
