Sir - It is reassuring to hear that Conservative councillor Chris Mitchell thinks Worcester , after eight years of residence, is at the top of his places to live.

He is right to say that it is a safe place. That it has good transport and education, with a welcoming public and safe environment. All correct. Where he veers off message, and perhaps betrays his somewhat conservative attitude, is in the statements 'jobs for those who want them', and 'the vast majority who value the city'. Tut tut. As a resident of Worcester, who has been here a little longer than eight years, the reason our faithful city is such a great place to live, is because we constantly question the standards of public facilities, public council representation, and everything this city provides.

To maintain high standards and fairness for all, we constantly have to question whether things are being done correctly in our name. Thats what makes, and has made, Worcester great. To paint those who point out faults that need rectifying as moaners is negative in the extreme, and misses the point of why us Worcester folk have a wonderful city to live in. Far too conservative an attitude councillor. Constant improvement is why we are the place to live.
