Sir - I agree with COLIN MAJOR's (Mon 21st July) comments about Foregate Street Station.

Upon returning to the area after several years away, I was pleased to see the station had been re vamped and from the outside looked promising. However, my pleasure was short lived.

On Friday afternoon at 14.30 (Peak travel time) the information centre was closed, the ticket office was closed. No member of station staff anywhere to be seen.

My mother and I were going to meet a family member off the Birmingham train, but there no screens displaying 'Arrivals' but two displaying 'departures' so we didn't know which platform he would be arriving at and if the train was on time (it turned out it was late, but we had no way of checking this).

On top of this, there were no seats either in the station or outside for my mum to rest her legs, and she certainly couldn't climb the steps to either platform (the lift only goes to platform 1).

Whilst trying to sort out my own difficulties, I needed to help a overseas student who needed to get to Dudley with a limited amount of money use the ticket machine, having no idea whether I was giving him the right information.

Surely with Worcester's developing university, this is not the kind of image to portray to locals or oversees visitors?
